If I don't have storage, where do I store my preps?

So I have the $$, gleaned some of the basics from the Mormon prepardness manual which was had a ton of info. My problem is this: I live in a very small apt and I have NO WHERE to store food preps. I do have several storage unit type of places nearby that I could rent. I figure I rent one that is indoors (constant 60 degree temp). Added bonus is that I have a separate hidden location for my preps, generator, some spare ammo, etc. The negative would be in a SHTF situation I might have trouble accessing it. I also live in Maine so storing it in the garage/ outdoor storage unit isn't possible due to the temp extremes.
Any input would be helpful as I only have a case of MRE's for food prep and want to stock up on grain, honey, beans, etc.

Thanks.

It is amazing how much stuff will fit in the back of a closet, which for most people rarely sees the light of day anyway. I honestly think you could get a years supply of food underneath an ordinary bed, although you might have to put the frame up on blocks a couple of inches. Get creative -- pull your sofa out from the wall 10 inches or so. Cases of #10 cans on edge would fit there just fine. Apartment dwellers have more space than they know.

Underneath the bed is all my ammo:D The sofa idea is a good idea.

catch-22 ?

you want to buy preps for 4-8 months ?
buy you really have no room for said preps
have you looked at your apt in terms of defending these supplies ?

have you thought about " bugging out " when TSHTF ?
IMO, the cities will be total chaos after 3-4 days without food
and i don't think it too farfetched to imagine mobs/gangs going door to door looking for food
in essence, you're in a small apt (with supplies ?) that you may have to defend
if you get overrun, you may lose your apt and/or supplies

do you have any trustworthy family/friends outside the city ?
are they aware of the current economic situation ?

find a location outside the city for stocking supplies
it doesn't have to be a large space
even a small monthly rental storage space near the edge of your city
but when TSHTF, be ready to move these supplies as well
but you might have at least a 1-3 days leeway
before people start breaking into these storage rentals

imho

I'm probably letting the cat out of the bag with this one, but I grew up in a family of 9 in a 1300sqft house with a years supply of food for everyone. Somehow we managed to keep it stored without a single problem and it was never noticable. Just like Merlin said, you'de be REALLY surprised how much available space you have in your home/appt.

One idea is to use boxes of preps as end tables or a coffee table. Drape fabric over them and put a lamp on top.

Another idea that I did in our small home is to add another shelf above the clothes rack in each closet. There was plenty of space between the top of the existing shelf and ceiling.

Do you have any extra storage space in the basement of the apartment building? If so, you may be able to organize it more efficiently by buying Closet Maid organizers at Lowes or Home Depot (their the white wire shelf organizers). Did this in all our closets and you can really expand the amount of shelf space you have. Same thing in kitchen cabinets.

How about moving a bookcase or cabinet out from a wall about 4 inches and building a narrow shelving unit that would be just wide enough to hold cans of food. Stain it the same color as the existing bookcase/cabinet and once in place move the existing bookcase/cabinet firmly against it to hold it in place and disguise it?
